Cutting guide:
● 8×8 cardstock scored at 4 on one side
● Piece of pattern paper at 2 inches in width. Height is to your choosing
● Matting~base 3 7⁄8 x 7 7⁄8 and 3 5⁄8 x 7 5⁄8
You can adjust these to get a border size to your
liking
How to:
● Take your scored cardstock and fold on the score line and use your bone folder to smooth it out. Then take your base pattern paper and with the side of your scissors, run it across gently on the sides of your cardstock to create a distressed look. This is optional, but it does make it look nice. Then adhere it to your card base.
● With your top matting layer, repeat the distressed process like before and choose some areas to gently tear. Don’t tear too far and distress (optional) the exposed torn portions (the white parts). To create height, use foam tape on your paper making sure not to cover your ripped portions. Apply to the card.
● Choose the tree chippies that’ll best work for you. Punch them out carefully. Then take your distress ink and tool and begin distressing the chippies. I added lines with a marker to give it more definition. Keep distressing until you get the results you’re looking for.
● Then take some of your chippies and begin placing them under your torn pieces of the cardstock on your card. Lay them out first before you adhere them down to see how you want them placed. Use hot glue (carefully) to adhere them down.
● I took a scrap piece of the pattern paper and sized it down to 2 x 3 (ish) and used the DMC tag punch to create a tag. You don’t have to do this, but it adds a nice layering base and touch.
● Then choose your pieces for the collection and begin to fussy cut them out. I also like using the cut aparts as my “ephemera” as well to help build a scene.
● Begin laying your pieces out and see how you want to apply everything. Pull pieces up higher to see if you want to add dimension in certain areas. And for more texture, add some ribbon on your card.
● For another stand out look to your card, use the DMC water droplets to your card for a “rainy” look.
