Hi y’all! This is Susan Lee Rose @susanleeroseblog and today I am sharing a fun 3D purse with you! When Maymay challenged us to make a 3D craft out of this beautiful God Bless America Collection Kit from Carta Bella Paper Co, I knew I wanted to do it, but I wasn’t sure what I wanted to make. I don’t do many 3D paper crafts, but I wanted to try something different to stretch my skills, so I accepted the challenge. Several years ago, I made a purse card that I thought was cute, so I decided to make a purse. But, I wanted it to be more than just a card. I thought about it for a while and decided I wanted to make something that would be a lovely gift, so I decided on a purse shape that opened up to hold a collection of matching mini slimline cards. I think it turned out beautiful, and I know I will be making these again as gifts! Ready to get started?

Instructions:
1. Attach the base to the front and back of the bag with glue. See photo for placement. Let dry completely.

2. Cover the kraft cardstock handle with the two 1-1/8” x 11-1/8” pieces (to cover bag handle on both sides. Trim to fit. Using glue, attach the handle to the top of the backside of the purse. Use extra glue and clamp together. Let dry completely. This is your bag base.

3. Attach the two 2.75” x 9” red dot pieces to the bottom of the blue gingham bag templates with glue. Trim the sides to match the rounded template base.

4. Attach the two completed blue gingham/red dot fronts to the front sides of the kraft bag base.

5. Attach the two star template pieces to the insides of the kraft bag base. You will need to use extra glue around the handles and use clamps to hold them into place until dry.

6. Cover the kraft cardstock closure with the two 1-3/8” x 4-1/8” red dot pieces (to cover bag closure). Trim to fit. Using glue, attach the closure to the top of the backside of the purse (the same side the handle is attached to) and use clamps to hold it into place. Attach sticky back Velcro dots to the open end of the bag closure and fold over to the front, pressing the other side of the sticky back Velcro dot into place.

7. Let the whole project dry for at least 1 hour with clamps on the handle and closure.8. Glue the two 5-5/8” x 5-5/8” navy dot pieces (to cover inside pockets) onto the two 5.5” x 5.5” inside pocket pieces. Trim to fit.

9. Score inside pockets at 0.5” and 1” on three sides.10. Fold the inside pockets along the score lines, clip, and trim as shown

11. Fold the pockets and glue down edges to form the interior pockets.

12. Attach the pockets to the inside of the purse, one on each side, about ½ an inch from the bottom of the bag, with open sides facing the top of the bag.

I filled my pockets with mini slimline cards and envelopes. I think this makes a charming gift that would be perfect for nearly any occasion! The completed project turned about adorable, and I can’t wait to make more for gifts!
