Maymay's 2021 DT Bug Scott~ Mouse House Card -

Hi! Bug here from @mediocreartsandcrafts. Today I’m here to share my Mouse House card with you. It’s a great example of letting the paper do the work. This card required some fussy cutting, but was still really quick to make. When I flip through the Mintay Door and Window books, I always think who might live in those houses. As I put the pieces of this card together I found myself creating a back story and narrative for the mouse that I envision living in this house. I think this type of card might be fun for a kiddo working on dexterity, since you can create a story together as you cut and glue.

A2 card base

Directions:

1. Cut your background of tree bark into A2 dimensions. (5 ½” x 4 ¼” if you don’t want the base to show. If you want the mat effect then 5 ¼” x 4’)

2. If you want to round the corners, go ahead and do that now. Attach to your card base.

3. Choose your door from the Door Book. If you want to round the corners, do that now. I only rounded the top.

4. To have your door on a step, cut a single cinnamon stick, or one of the wood slices, cut into thirds. Apply to the bottom of your card, making sure your door will fit on your card above it.

5. For a matching window, cut from a door and adhere To get that faux shutter look, slice an orange slice in half. Before gluing, be sure that you have these items high enough to fit your yard decor. Glue one slice, then add your window, and then the last orange slice – in this order just to make sure everything is flush and fits between your door and the end of the card.
